The terms for using Revision

These terms cover your use of Revision, the service at revisionboards.com run by Daniel Dashwood in New Zealand (“we”, “us”). By using Revision, whether you manage projects or view a link someone shared with you, you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.

Revision lets designers upload hi-res design boards to a project and share them with clients through one link. Clients can view the boards and, if the designer allows, comment on them and approve the work or request changes. Revision emails people about new comments, replies and updates.

Revision is in early access. It’s free, anyone can sign up to manage projects, and features may change as it develops. If paid plans are introduced, they’ll be announced on the Pricing page before anything changes, and these terms will be updated to cover them.

• Designers who manage projects sign in with Google. Each account gets its own workspace, with limits on how many projects and how much storage it can use.
• Clients don’t need an account to view a link. To comment, they sign in with Google or, where a project allows guest comments, give just a name. To approve the work or request changes, they sign in with Google.
• You’re responsible for what happens under your account, and for keeping your Google account secure.
• Your workspace is private. Nobody else can see or change your projects, clients or settings. Clients only see the boards you share with them by link.

You own the designs, files and comments you put into Revision. We don’t claim any rights to them.

You give us permission to store, copy, process and display your content, only as needed to run Revision and to show it to the people you share it with. That includes making tiles and thumbnails of your boards, showing a thumbnail in link previews, and including comments in emails. This permission ends when the content is deleted, apart from copies that stay briefly in backups.

You confirm you have the right to upload your content and to share it with the people you send it to.

• Anyone who has a project’s share link can view its published boards, unless you set a password. Then they need the password too.
• Links aren’t listed anywhere and search engines are asked not to index them, but they can be forwarded. Share them only with people you trust, and set a password for sensitive work.
• Board images are served from long, random addresses. Anyone with the direct address of an image can open it, even on a password-protected project.
• You decide who gets a link, a password and update emails. Send updates only to people who expect them.

Don’t use Revision to:

• upload or share anything illegal, or content you don’t have the rights to
• harass, threaten or mislead anyone, or pretend to be someone else
• send spam or unwanted email through project updates
• upload malware, or files meant to harm Revision or the people viewing them
• get into projects, accounts or data you haven’t been given, or get around passwords or limits
• overload, disrupt or scrape the service

We work to keep Revision running smoothly, but it’s an early-access service provided “as is”. We don’t promise it will always be available, free of errors or suited to a particular purpose, and we may change, pause or remove features.

Revision isn’t a backup. Keep your own copies of your design files.

If you use Revision for a business, you agree that the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 doesn’t apply. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under New Zealand law that can’t be excluded.

As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue, data or business, arising from your use of Revision. We aren’t responsible for what other people upload or comment.

As far as the law allows, our total liability to you for anything to do with Revision is limited to NZ$100.

You can stop using Revision at any time. To have your account or content deleted, email hello@revisionboards.com.

We may suspend or remove your access, or remove content, if you break these terms, if we need to protect Revision or the people using it, or if the law requires it. We may also end early access or close Revision. Where we reasonably can, we’ll tell you first.

We may update these terms as Revision changes. We’ll post the new version here with a new effective date. If you keep using Revision after that, the updated terms apply.

These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and New Zealand courts can hear any dispute about them.
